Research, Development and Extension is the key to a sustainable and profitable future for Australian farming agriculture. Baker Seed Co. is proud to be a major stakeholder in the development and delivery of new and innovative products to satisfy farmer’s needs in a challenging and changing environment.
The outcome of this commitment is that Australian growers have access to the very best performing seed technology and agronomic tools, to ensure profitable outcomes and sustainable growth.
Baker Seed Co. have an extensive replicated trial program for cereals and canola located on site at Rutherglen. These trials are designed to scientifically measure the performance of varieties, species, seed technologies and seed treatments. We also have agronomy trial plots at Henty Machinery Field Days.
The variety trials are managed to identify the full genetic potential of germplasm in a range of sowing times. From this, we aim to identify new germplasm for their adoption as seed crops and subsequent commercialisation and release. This research also gives us the opportunity to explore and identify the agronomic trials of new varieties, so we are better informed when advising farmers and agronomists.
