Variety Features
- Phalaris is a productive, stable and reliable pasture species than other temperate grasses such as Cocksfoot, Fescue and Perennial Ryegrass as it has deep root development and drought tolerance
- Grows vigorously in Autum and Spring and responses quickly to rainfall events. Dormant in Summer.
- Very persistent once established
- Most widely sown Phalaris variety in Australia
- Variable in growth habit but on average more erect than Australian Phalaris but more prostrate than Sirolan Phalaris.
- Excellent seed vigour, high winter production, moderately low trytamine alkaloid levels and good seed production and retention
- Tends to flower slightly later than Sirolan and is better suited to cooler, higher rainfall areas.
- Sirosa is not quite as drought tolerant as Sirolan but is superior to Australian
